The Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (WCAAA) is a private, non-profit organization which manages and provides comprehensive services through person-centered planning for older adults (age 60 years and older), caregivers, and individuals with disabilities, in order to maintain their independence and quality of life. Through Federal, State and grant funding partnerships, the agency serves 41 towns in Western and Northwestern CT. The agency services include: home-based client assessments to determine need for long-term care supports; chore and transportation services; emergency fuel programs; adult day care; congregate and home delivered meals (Meals on Wheels), support to family members and friends caring for loved ones with a diagnosis of dementia/Alzheimer’s and related disorders, and provides free, unbiased and commission-free, one-to-one counseling on Medicare, Medicaid and related benefits. WCAAA empowers Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers and family members on detecting, and reporting errors, fraud and abuse in Medicare and provides referrals for behavioral health counseling. The agency also funds some senior center programs and free, evidence-based health self-management workshops for those with chronic pain, diabetes, or other chronic conditions.
